Laser Guided Assembly Solutions for Welded Fabrication

Ensuring Measurement is Precise

Virtek's laser projection systems make mechanical templates or time-consuming measurement procedures obsolete. The laser projected image is always precise because it is generated from the product’s CAD data.

3D Applications

Virtek Iris 3D and Iris SPS with Vision Positioning System (VPS) or a Laser Projection System (LPS10)

Learn how a combination of laser projection technology with 3D integrated vision can locate a part in 3D space. Iris quickly locks onto the part’s CAD-specified assembly positions and guides the user through the welded assembly process by projecting a laser outline of each component part.

Best Suited For:

  • Fixture Placement
  • Welded Stud & Bracket Placement
  • Rolling Stock Component Assembly
  • Heavy Equipment Fabrication
  • Skidded Assembly Layout and Fabrication
  • Aerospace MRO, Upgrades, & Retrofits
  • Final Assembly – Hole Location
  • Bonded & Riveted Fasteners

Virtek LTG with Laser Projection System (LPS10)

Accurately projects a virtual laser template to guide operators through the layout process of flat 2D parts. Eliminates the need for blueprints and manual measuring. Even the most complicated designs can be built in minutes.

Best Suited For:

  • Wall Panel Assembly
  • Handrail Layout
  • Modular Pre-Fabrication
  • Floor Grade Cutouts
  • Skidded Assembly Layout and Fabrication
  • Assembly/Layout Tasks Performed On Welded Assembly Tables
  • Visual Inspection (Hardware & Contours)

Metalcrafters Case Study

Case Study: MetalCrafters

By implementing Virtek’s LTG system, Metalcrafters  of Wayne County, Inc. has transformed its fabrication processes, saving time, improving accuracy, and addressing bottlenecks caused by traditional layout methods. Beyond fabrication, the LTG system’s value as a QC tool ensures that every part meets exact standards, reinforcing Metalcrafters’ reputation for delivering high-quality metalwork.

"We are saving massive amounts of time and effort in our layout procedures. The key advantages of using Virtek Laser systems are accuracy, time and the use of the DFX from submittals allows you to be sure there are no issues between parts. It is as much a quality control tool as it is a fab too.”

Case Study: Komatsu

Komatsu was seeking to reduce errors in manufacturing, while at the same time increasing their throughput and efficiency to enable them to meet increased demand. They were using aluminum templates to guide workers in welding brackets, stand-offs and studs on large mining truck frames.

These templates were costly to manufacture, design and redesign. Additionally, they were cumbersome, presenting Health and Safety risks, and taking up a lot of space to store.

By implementing Virtek’s Iris Spatial Positioning System (SPS), Komatsu eliminated templates and significantly accelerated their assembly process, eliminating human errors and upholding quality because items are built exactly as designed.
